ProfDev: Art of the Schmooze Review

Robbie Samuels has been recognized as a networking expert by Inc. and Lifehacker, and profiled in Stand Out: How to Find Your Breakthrough Idea and Build a Following Around It. Since 2009, his engaging and fun presentations have helped a wide array of audiences increase their networking and fundraising confidence. In 2006, he founded Socializing for Justice ( to build a cross-cultural, cross-issue progressive community and network in Boston based on the philosophies of abundance and radical inclusion.

Over the last 9 years, Socializing for Justice has grown to nearly 3,000 members, hosted over 200 events, and facilitated countless connections. Robbie’s vision was to create a welcoming space for like-minded progressives to meet each other. To counteract the tendency for regulars to huddle with each other, he began sharing his best practices and tips for networking and being a host. This training became Art of the Schmooze, Robbie’s signature session taught to hundreds each year through his business as a professional speaker.

Socializing for Justice hosts a ProfDev Series on the first Monday of each month. This provides access to affordable professional development trainings for anyone interested in building their skills. These are held at The NonProfit Center by South Station. Upcoming topics include time management on 2/1, fundraising on 3/7, and LinkedIn on 4/4. The fee to attend is $15 in advance or $30 at the door.

On Sunday, February 14, Socializing for Justice is hosting their annual Dating While Progressive (Singles Party) at Lir on Boylston by Hynes. This event is co-hosted by several progressive organizations and 25% of the door is donated to an organization (chosen by attendees) that works with survivors of domestic violence.
