Who is Boston Internet Marketing Meetup (BIMM)?

BIMM is a Meetup group led by Internet marketing professionals. The group meets monthly to discuss Internet marketing strategies and trends. In addition to providing educational sessions, BIMM meetings include a social component where members usually socialize together after the event at a nearby restaurant.

What happened at the event?

On Wednesday November 30, 2011, BIMM hosted a Meetup at Foley Hoag focused on “Legal Issues on Internet Publishing.” With social media, copyright infrigements, and Internet piracy all growing at a rapidly fast pace, there was a lot to talk about. Three presenters spoke about their respective areas of expertise: Joshua Jarvis (from Foley Hoag LLP), Clark Linehan (Linehan Photography), and Andrew Penziner (from Andrew Penziner Productions LLC). Although each presenter spoke extensively about their topics, they made sure to accommodate comments and questions. Future BIMM meetings will include learning about Webmaster tools and Google Analytics.

Throughout the meeting, several useful websites for copyright laws were mentioned, including Copyright.gov, Copyscape.com, and Copycheck.com.
