#MPMashUp MusicPound CollegeFest Tweetup – A BostonTweetUp Review

During this years’ CollegeFest (Oct 1-2) in Boston, Musicpound decided to do a launch specifically focusing on attracting the college market. MusicPound is an iPhone app that allows you to compare your music library with others to see how well your musical tastes align.  This mobile app is ideal to the college market and according to USA Today Boston is the 4th best college town in the country.

Given the opportunity, Chelsea Lada, Social Media Coordinator Regan Communications Group out of the New York office, reached out to BostonTweetUp for assistance to reach the local Boston college market.*

*During the last few years BostonTweetup has been working with a number of PR firms to do product launches. Here is more information on how we can help out your PR firm.

During out initial conversation we created a strategic plan that met their goals and we highlighted various tactics to accomplish them given the timeframe. In this case we recommended they leverage twtvite vs eventbrite given the target audience, learning curve required to learn the registration system, and the amount of time we had to plan promote the event.

We suggested keeping the contest simple and easy to understand given the fact that the #MPMashUp tweetup was apart of the bigger CollegeFest event. We also suggested, which Chelsea and team did, leveraging the #MpMashUp Tweetup to promote CollegeFest and helping that team also gain visibility via the tweetup.

We were able to all cross promote each other thus creating a win-win-win situation for everyone involved!

Sherif Fahmy, and the rest of the the MusicPound founders, were also there meeting and greeting the new mobile app fans!

Chelsea also had Dorchester native DJ Krazy Kulo of JAM’N 94.5FM Morning Show and multi-platinum producer DJ Clinton Sparks go by the tweetup! The event was a win-win-win for everyone involved. DJ Clinton Sparks also got to promote (No Swag) his next promotes to existing and new fans.

We wish him and the rest of the MusicPound team continued success!

Bonus: While at the tweetup I got to meet the super cool Melissa Mccray founder of Toph Daddy (area code tshirts), the sneakerhead geniuses of Green St Vault, and awesome recording artist Lisa Bello (All pictured in the slideshow below)

All in all we look forward to working with Chelsea and the MusicPound team in the future.

Also in case you missed it we gave shouts out to the CollegeFest & Music Pound team (Chelsea, Krazy Kulo (& his clothing line) and DJ Clinton Sparks) before (BostonTweetUp TV Ep 133) & after (BostonTweetUp TV  Ep 134) CollegeFest.
