Top 5 Social Media Tips Venues Should Do During a Networking Event

After following our first tips on what to do on the top 5 social media platforms to better network before an event, we hope you’re now ready for to host the actual event at your venue!

So event venue managers, are you set and ready to go? Is your venue ready to take on the networking extravaganza?

Because now we’re going to be showing you how you can continue to grow your venue’s exposure and brand awareness even while you’re busy during the event. And what better way to do this then by using the top 5 social media platforms we talked about in the first post.

Now there’s no need to worry and no need to think that you wont have the time and energy to boast about the event and your venue while you’re there. Because all you need to do is follow these tips, on how to utilize the 5 media platforms during the event, so that your venue generates buzz and possibly new clientele.

So let’s get started on what you could do during the event.

1) Facebook:

  1. Post a status letting everyone know that the event is now taking place. Try to be specific and mention the event hasgtag as well as “who you are with.” People like being mentioned in others status’ and this can get more people to “like” your venue.
  2. If someone has checked into your venue and has shared it on FB, make sure to like it! This will show that you care about your guests and what they are sharing about you, and it will reward you with a good reputation. Which is great for gaining business.
  3.  Or, if someone has checked into your venue and has shared it on FB, make sure to comment! You want to make your guests feel recognized and praised for being at your location. Which is also good for business.
  4. Share a photo of the event, as it is taking place in your venue, and make sure to tag the people in the photo.
  5. See who is “talking about this,” (your venue) and give them a quick shout out. Let them know you’ve recognized them and thank them for noticing you.

2) LinkedIn:

  1. Share an update and let the LinkedIn community know that the event is now taking place at your location. Incorporate the hashtag for more exposure. 
  2. Share an update on your venue company page, using the event hastag, and share it to Twitter via LinkedIn. This will let others find you in two places at once.
  3. Use CardMunch, to take a picture of a business card and have it converted to a contact that shows you their LinkedIn profile information. You can search for potential new/returning clients this way.
  4. On the event invitation, search for the people who are attending the event and try to find them in person. Start to build your relationships outside of the internet.
  5. Ask attendees if they have a LinkedIn profile, so that you can go in later and connect with them.

 

3) Twitter:

  1. Tweet about the event that is taking place at your venue. Make sure to use the event hashtag so that your venue is linked to the event and gains exposure. 
  2. Take a Twitpic of the event, as it is taking place in your venue, to share with the Twitter community. This will give a visual presentation of what the interior of your venue looks like during the event. Who know’s maybe someone may like the way you set up your venue for the event and will ask you to book a spot.
  3. ReTweet anyone who has checked into your venue using Foursquare. This can give you more followers and exposure because people like to be retweeted and recognized. It’s a win-win situation for both the venue and the networker and can potentially give you returning customers.
  4. If you have created a list for the event, make sure to continuously look in on it so that you can keep track of if the the guests are saying about you and your venue during the event.
  5. Look and see who is tweeting about the event, by searching for the event hashtag, and follow anyone who seems to be enjoying your venue. Reach out to them so that they can reach back out to you.

4) Google+:

  1. “Share what’s new” by letting the entire Google+ community know about the event that is currently going on at your venue. Make sure to use the event hashtag.
  2. “Share what’s new” by uploading a photo or video of the event to show the entire Google+ community.
  3. On the Google+ event page, ask guests what they are enjoying about your venue during the event.
  4. Snap and share photos of the event to the Google+ event page, in real time right from your phone. This allows everyone at the event to share and stay connected.
  5. Share a video of the event on the Google+ event page, as it is taking place, by simply recording and uploading it. This also allows everyone at the event to share and stay connected in one place.

5) Blogs:

  1. Take pictures! Take as many pictures as you can during the event so that you can later share these photos on your website, written blog, and other social media platforms. It will give you good exposure.
  2. Take videos. Try to take videos of the event so that readers can get a visual sense of what your venue looks like. Visual presentations are always nice.
  3. Stream photos of your venue onto your Tumblr blog, so that you can connect with your community and start building a presence for your brand.
  4. Try and interview guests during the event and ask them if they would consider coming back on a regular basis. You can mention them in your blog which can potentially increase your viewer rates.
  5. Gather the names and twitter handles of the organizers, hosts and speakers who are attending your venue for a special event.

Now the important thing to remember is that while you are updating your social media platforms on the event that is taking place at your venue by usisng photos, videos and mentions to specific people, you will be helping hype up the event, but more importantly hype up your venue! 

You’re venue will be in all the photos, all the videos, all the Twitter and Facebook check-ins and in everyones mind! So the more you post during the event in the right ways, the more you will be remembered for the right things.

And how great is it that you’ll be one of the first thoughts when thinking back on the event and one of the first venues when thinking of a possible location for the next event!
