5 Unique Things for Speakers to Do Before a Networking Event

Hey speakers,

So as you may know, it’s important to make a great first impression. Why? So that you can reach maximum visibility and build a great reputation for yourself.

In this post we will guide you through five unique things that you can do before an event to help you stand out!

I mean, don’t you want event organizers to recognize and choose you for their next event? Of course you do.

#1 CREATE A SPEAKER FILE

SpeakerFile is essentially an expert visibility platform that allows you to quickly build, manage and promote rich-media profiles in the form of an online speaker bureau. It’s an easy tool to use because as a speaker, you can update your profile, have it linked to your LinkedIn or Twitter account, and you can highlight your previous speeches and events with sample talks, videos, or photos. This will make it easy for organizers and networkers to get to know a little bit about you before the event. SpeakerFile will also highlight your industry expertise, speaking style, lecture style, strategy, and formal so that you can leverage your strengths and expertise.

#2 SPEAKER RATE

Speakerrate is a great tool to use. Not only does it give you a rating on your delivery and content, but it also allows you to share your past talks. Speakerrate makes it easy for event organizers to find speakers and learn about their past talks, it allows event attendees to provide feedback to speakers, and it allows the speakers to receive valuable feedback directly from attendees so that they can find out how they can improve their content and delivery for their next talk. They can also establish a SpeakerRating, which will help them earn future speaking opportunities.

#3 SLIDE SHARE

As the world’s largest community for sharing presentations, Slide Share allows you to share your documents, PDFs, videos and webinars over the web.  You can upload your presentations either publicly or privately, embed the slides on your blogs or websites, and you can then share them across social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. SlideShare is he best way to get your content shared by a wide audience, and it is a great way to reach the people who can not make it to the event or to your talk.

#4 HOST A WEBINAR

Hosting or setting up a Webinar prior to the event will allow you to host a presentation, lecture, or workshop over the web. The benefits of hosting a Webinar are that it is for the most part free and easily accessible. Since they are held over the web, attendees can tune in from the comfort of their own office or home. Webinars also allow attendees to leave questions and feedback, and because Webinars are typically archived, anyone who isn’t available during the event can review it at a later time.

#5 CONNECT WITH PANEL

It’s important to connect with the panel. Get to know the the other speakers before the event, and get to know what their topic of discussion will be. You can connect with them either on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google+, or you can connect with them by searching for their SpeakerFile or SpeakerRate profiles. This will build your connections, grow your network and get you better acquainted.

So next time you are asked to speak at an event, use these tips and leave us a comment letting us know which tip(s) worked in your favor.
