What It’s All About…

Meet, Plan, Go is a unique meetup group that connects people, online and/or in person, who are interested in traveling during as a career break. At the event you Meet like minded people, you get tools and tips to Plan your travel and you get inspiration to Go by hearing stories from other travelers. One of the goals of this national group is to redefine the term “career break” and make it part of an overall career strategy. In fact the Meet Plan Go is leading the career break movement in North America.

What Happened….

Lillie Marshall, the local event organizer, opted for a two table setup sit down dinner style meetup. Each table had room for 10 people which create a nice setting for everyone to talk to each other. After a brief introduction from Lillie, who began her solo traveling during her college year (which made her the ideal host) everyone got up and introduced themselves along with the country(ies) of their expertise.

Memorable Moments

One of the best parts of this meetup was the fact that everyone had the opportunity to share a bit about themselves. This is essential to building a strong community and it was all due in large part to Lillie’s leadership as an event organizer and host. Lillie is also a school teacher, which, as she joked, has helped her significantly as an event organizer. Another great thing about the event was the name tags, which were smaller than the typical name tags and created less waste, and the extremely useful handout (see photo album below). Lastly it was also great to see Sara, Eventbrite’s Boston Community Manager, there to not only support but also participate in the meetup.

P.S.
Kudos to Meadhall @Meadhall, there were 3 events there and they all co-existed nicely there. This venue is become a great hot spot for events in Cambridge.

Jeff Lahens, Men’s style curator and founder of DressCodeBoston hosts a style viewing that features the Spring and Summer 2012 collections from Boston’s best brands and menswear shops. The vision is to bring together notable retailers, advertisers and the editorial community to InterContinental Boston’s RumBa bar for an amazing menswear promotion.

What Happened….

The show was filled with consistent beats, trendy accessories, and an unimaginable range of fashion at DressCode Boston’s #BosMen12. The crowd grew exponentially over drinks and Hors D’oeuvres as the lobby of the Rumba transformed into a fashion show. In the midst of camera flashes, high heeled shoes, and local socialites, DressCode Boston’s Jeff Lahens showcased menswear styles from Stel’s, Drinkwater’s Cambridge, Uniform, Ball and Buck, and Rockport.

Memorable Moments

The presentation was fresh and held the attention of the fashion forward crowd while personal videos from the designers about their inspiration, style, and stores were showcased in between the parade of models. The crowd was blown away by some realtime analytics from Twitter. All of the designers were for today’s gentleman and as expected were clean, timeless and impeccably tasteful.

Social media tools like twitter, instragam, foursquare etc the event ended up reaching over 100k people. Here’s a social media snap shot which we shared mid way through the event.

Hope you enjoy and look for our recap after the event.

What it’s all about…
Blog Better Boston is a conference for bloggers in Boston looking to expand their craft and grow their network. By taking the conversation from offline to in person, the conference was set up to acknowledge and meet the needs of the blogging community.

What happened…

As a “one day event created by bloggers, for bloggers”, the room was filled with a constant buzz of networking, learning, and putting a face to an online friend. The event, hosted at the Google offices in Cambridge, flowed seamlessly as experienced bloggers and professionals shared their stories and advice in a series of 5 major panels and 5 breakout workshops. With subjects like “How to Monetize your Blog”, “Traffic & Community”, “Design Hacks”, and “Social Media Platforms”, the discussions were informative, useful, and relevant to the evolving community. Speakers and attendees were comprised of an unlimited age group who blog about everything from fashion to tech. This diversity was matched not only by the conversation, but by the wealth of onsite presentations provided by the sponsors and brands.

The Better Boston Bloggers conference was highly successful and proved the need for events that foster this growing and thriving community. The conference concluded at 4:30 with the presentation of stuffed swag bags from sponsors, followed by an after party at Think Tank Bistrotheque.

Memorable Moments

Dunkin’ Donuts provided breakfast while Au Bon Pain showcased a new line of sandwiches for lunch. There was never a boring moment between sessions, as participants explored the sponsor “Marketplace”: a separate, open space that displayed a wide range of retailers with special offers and giveaways in tow.The most memorable element of the day was the networking environment. Bloggers met for the first time or built upon existing relationships. For some, this meant meeting a blogging friend or inspiration in person. They shared hardships and successes, expressed admiration, worked on collaborations, and realized their common goals. The energy from interaction was stimulating both online and in person. (see more event highlights below)

Update: One of the biggest hits of the day was the @Eventbrite cupcakes. In a matter of minutes it seemed like everyone was in line to scoop up a cupcake! See below for images of the awesome cupcakes.

What it’s all about…

Music 2.0 is an annual event that, as the name states, brings together Tools and Tech for Musicians, Marketers and Managers. The 2012 edition was the 3rd year in which Charles McEnerney brought together an eclectic group of passionate people all interested in the music industry. As Charles stats on the eventbrite page

“Boston + New England has an impressive number of companies creating tools and technologies to help promote and fund music projects. We also have a vibrant and diverse music community. Let’s keep connecting the two for the benefit of both. “

One slide captured the essence of the event.

The idea of the event is to learn about what a wide array of people are working on as we all figure out what music 2.0 looks like for each of us.

What happened…

The agenda was jammed packed with a variety of different speakers representing a wide range of products, services and specialized skill sets. All provided specific tools, tactics and strategies that can be immediately leveraged to provide an artist, group, label, etc a way to stand out in 2012.

On March 1st 2012 BostonTweetUp had the pleasure of running the Social Media Command Center for MassChallenge’s MCLaunch event. Although we are still sifting thru all the data, we wanted to provide a quick Social Media recap of the event.
Let us know if you want us to add any of your content. Stay tuned as we will be updating this page with new data as soon as we get it, in the meantime we hope you enjoy what we have collected so far.
